Centripetal and centrifugal interconnection on hotel and restaurant linguistic landscape of Bali, Indonesia

The existence of foreign languages, Indonesian-the national language, and Balinese-the local on public signs hotels restaurants in Bali indexes the interconnection between centrifugal centripetal force multilingual situation. Hotels various types put Indonesian Balinese words their signs, along massive use English. is scrutinized through layers analysis; multimodality, signage relation social emplacement, indexicality levels. mixture fixed centralizing fluid decentralizing seems unavoidable because semiotic commodification political reasons.
